Return of Balloon Boy, Tweets on Tumblr, Monster High ad, Best of Land Villages, & more!

Hey guys! There are a lot of recent tweets and posts to cover, so let’s get started! First off, I want to emphasize this new video that has been added to the Creator’s “Inside Poptropica” YouTube playlist:

…Does this mean that Balloon Boy, who has been floating aimlessly since the release of Counterfeit Island, may be returning soon? Part of me is thrilled and part of me is sad that we may not be able to look in the sky and find him there any longer. Here is what has been said on the subject:

balloon boy talk

As you can see, Balloon Boy may soon become a Balloon Man

In other news, Poptropica is still buzzing about Tumblr! The awesomeness has even spread to classrooms, and look, even the PHB’s 1D costumes are in the mix! (Click to view full images!)

Ugh, I hate it when I’m stuck on the loading page with a ton of vines across my screen. :P

Plus, some more concept art has been released! The first two shown in the gallery are for the current Monster High: Freaky Fusion ad (see below). There’s also a just-for-fun sketch captioned “tongue tied” where a Poptropica artist experiments with crazy tongues on characters, and another of a boy Poptropican shooting hoops on the moon (and here they link to the Lunar Colony trailer).

For girls only, a Monster High: Freaky Fusion ad is available on Night Watch Island (there’s even an icon on the Map you can use to get there). Inside, along with a quiz game and the promo posters, there’s a freaky portal on the right – it doesn’t have a purpose, but it does look cool.

You’ll find two prizes on the top floor: Sirena Follower and Fusion Power (see below for images – thanks to Scary Plug of PWSP for the pics and insight!).

The Poptropica mobile app has gotten a couple of updates: first, Survival: Escape! (episode 5) is now available for 99 cents. (Although, of course, you can just play it for free online! Plus, if you need help, check out our Survival Island Guide.) Also, 3 free Halloween costume packs have been added to the Shop on your home island, and the app icon has even gotten a Halloween makeover! Cute.

The Best of the Land: Villages have also been announced! Check them out:

"From Cool Sponge, an old-fashioned village that looks like the perfect place to hold the inaugural constitutional convention. (Cool Sponge also made it into Monday's Dream Homes!)" "From Creepy Goose, how clever is this? She zoomed way out for a blimp's-eye view of her village." "From Friendly Heart, imagine waking up to that giant shrubbery every morning. It wouldn't be terrifying at all." "From Ice Age, an intricate desert setting. Unfortunately, Ice Age wasn't a registered user so we can't share their avatar with you! Always a good idea to save your game." "From Mad Comet, here's a medieval village that seems to be struggling with a dragon problem. (Mad Comet, too, was featured on Monday!)" "From Neat Tiger, we can see why they needed to build this village above the flood plain. Looks like they've got everything up there!" "From Popular Shadow, it's another dragon! Let's hope this one is a protector. If not, we know exactly what to do (Red Dragon Island reference)." "From Serious Bird, you don't have to go far for a bite to eat in this town. Does the building on the right shake in an earthquake?" "From Silver Lightning, another underwater-themed world! We'll take the raft, thank you very much." "From White Flyer, it looks like a Poptropica Main Street! Even without the blimp it's a dead ringer. Well done."

Click here to go vote for your favorite! The poll, from now until Monday, should be to the right of the page. As of now, these are the results:

  • Cool Sponge (14%)
  • Creepy Goose (4%)
  • Friendly Heart (9%)
  • Ice Age (6%)
  • Mad Comet (8%)
  • Neat Tiger (13%)
  • Popular Shadow (3%)
  • Serious Bird (23%)
  • Silver Lightning (7%)
  • White Flyer (7%)

The next theme in the contest, which runs from October 24 to 26, is Obstacle Course. Check out our Poptropica Labs (Land) walkthrough for help. Good luck everyone!

As for The Best of the Land: Dream Houses, Zany Clown’s treehouse ended up as the best of the best according to readers’ votes. Congrats, Zany Clown! :D

From Zany Crown, this is a treehouse that stays true to its roots. Just beautiful.

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with a little bit of a Twitter-recap post. Now, we’ve covered a lot of things, but the Poptropica Twitter just keeps popping up with more! If you haven’t caught on by now, this is the main hotspot besides the Daily Pop or Creators’ Blog that you might use to get up-to-date on some of the news and other tidbits circulating the realm of Poptropica.

For example, did you know that Arabian Nights Island: Episode 2 comes out for members on November 25th (which, in a shocking turn of events, is a Tuesday and not the traditional Thursday)? For everyone else, it comes out December 11th (3 weeks later, on Thursday).

Or did you see this behind-the-scenes art made for the Cryptids Island book?

Screenshot 2014-11-01 at 5.02.39 PM

Now we delve into the realm of Poptropica Land for a few “Goodbye Land” creations! The Creators mention in the last one “Until January”… Could this mean that Lands is coming out for all next year?

Screenshot 2014-11-01 at 5.03.01 PM Screenshot 2014-11-01 at 5.03.11 PM Screenshot 2014-11-01 at 5.03.22 PM

And to make sure this post lasts for “infinity”… *star with rainbow trail shoots above head with the words “Blake’s Horrible Pun of the Day” on it* Here’s a small recap of the new Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition Disney Originals ad! I know that we got one in the past with the Marvel heroes, but now the Disney Originals are coming out to play.

If you log in, you may get a card with a Poptropican version of Aladdin (Creators, I know you read this blog. Make the Poptropica Aladdin costume a thing. I would buy so many of them). It says to “Come meet the whole gang!” Click on the little bubble thingy (have we coined a term for that thing? let’s call it a Popper, shall we?), and you’ll be taken to the ad on Super Villain Island.

Okay, time to demonstrate my knowledge of Disney. When you click the ad, you get a Disney Originals power which will make Disney’s Stitch, Aladdin, Maleficient, Merida, Donald Duck, Tinker Bell and Baymax appear on your screen. Pictures of the ad and the two cards are below!

Lastly, I’d like to give a shout out to our dear friend here at the PHB, Fuzzy-B. He’s leaving the blog after about two good years of being an author here, and we here at the PHB will miss him dearly. You can wish him goodbye in the comments of his post below. We wish you the best of luck with all of your future endeavors, Fuzzy!

Well, that’s all for now! Blake out! Stay popping, Poptropicans.

Hi guys! Slippery here. There’ve been a lot of Poptropica updates and other tidbits over Twitter and the Poptropica world lately, so here’s a recap! Let’s start with the minor ones.

Poptropica Name-All Islands Quiz

Poptropica recently shared an awesome Poptropica quiz! It’s a name-all island quiz. Can you name them all? Just click this link to take the quiz. I’ve got an extra challenge for all of you: can you beat this score? :D

Concept art: Black Flags Common Room and new PopStorm hair idea!

Another behind-the-scenes moment was featured on Twitter – an early concept idea for the Black Flags tribe common room. Who’s a Black Flag member here? However, if you’ve ever visited the Black Flags room, you’ll recognize that this was not what they went with – it was a rejected idea. What do you think?

Here’s the latest PopStorm entitled “Helpful Hairstyles”!  Hairstyles that you can control on your own?! These are odd-looking hairstyles. How awesome is that?

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 9: The Long Haul ad

The 9th book of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has made it to Poptropica! As mentioned above, the title of the 9th book is The Long Haul. In this advertisement, Greg Heffley and his family visits a country fair, which Greg finds boring. When you get inside, just talk to Greg and he’ll tell you that if you can roll the pot-bellied pig, you’ll win great prizes!

Capture Capture2

The game is simple, similar to the mini-game on Great Pumpkin Island where you push the biggest pumpkin. You’ll run through moles, mud puddles, barns and crazy fair booths. Here’s a tip: Use physics! (Push the pig with great force from a far spot.) You can also watch a pig fly to the sky and crash a pie eating contest. When the pig lands on the weighing scale and breaks it, you’ll receive two prizes: a Pig Costume and a Pumpkin Bazooka Game (which leads to an external link).

Win an autographed Poptropica sticker book!

DK Publishing is holding a raffle draw for a chance to win an exclusive Poptropica Sticker book signed by Jeff Kinney! Enter now and you could be the lucky winner of this awesome treat! This tweet contains the link (note: you must be aged 13+ and live in the U.S. to enter):

Interview with Poptropica comic artist Kory Merritt confirms upcoming graphic novel

One of Poptropica’s artists, Kory Merritt, was interviewed on an online magazine named “L’idea Magazine”.  He talks about his creation, Lost Side of Suburbia and of course—Poptropica! He also confirmed the Poptropica graphic novel  which is coming in 2015.  Here’s an excerpt of the interview. If you would like to know more about this interview, visit this link.

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: You are illustrating a graphic novel for a famous author. Are you still keeping the details secret or are we ready for the revelation of this mysterious author?
KORY MERRITT: Ah, that’s the Poptropica stuff. The famous author is Jeff Kinney, the Wimpy Kid himself – I think I’ve dropped that name a few times already. He created Poptropica and the characters from the Poptropica comics, along with author/editor Jess Brallier and some others. I’m presently drawing and coloring a 105-page graphic novel based on the Poptropica comic characters. It’s an original story from Jeff and Jess, and the script was written by Max Brallier, who has another illustrated series in the works. They’re really cool people. I’m lucky to be on board. I nearly geeked-out the first time I heard from Jeff, but luckily managed to keep it together (or at least that’s how I remember it).

Best of the Lands: The Best of the Best

Who will be reigned as the best of the best? The Poptropica Creators asks everyone of us to judge and vote our own Lands champion! The battle is between Zany Crown’s terrific tree house, Serious Bird’s tasty village, Silver Lightning awesome obstacle course and Fast Lizard’s haunted house! Who’s the best of the best? Vote in the poll!

From Fast Lizard, an amazing paranormal panorama. From Silver Lightning (another repeat Land challenge champ), this multi-screen course is truly a-maze-ing! dream house 10 "From Serious Bird, you don't have to go far for a bite to eat in this town. Does the building on the right shake in an earthquake?"

Ladies and gentlemen, here’s what all you’ve been waiting for…

PoptropiCon Episode 2: Spoiler Alert public release date!

What’s coming next Thursday, 13 November (on my birthday)? PoptropiCon’s second episode, Spoiler Alert will finally be released next Thursday! What an awesome birthday gift, Creators! ;) Do you want to know a spoiler? Guess what? SPOILER ALERT: There will be an awesome plot twist!

That’s every update on Poptropica right now, so I better go too! What do you think of the recent updates? Leave a comment below!

Poptropica’s Tumblr, robot ad follower, and comic writer interview!

Hey everyone! First off, before the post, I’m sorry I haven’t been active really at all – life has been a bit rough, so bear with me in this tough time! Anyway, Poptropica recently tweeted that they have an Official Tumblr page for the creators!

tumblr

From looking at their Tumblr, I see some really cool stuff! I see the creators re-blog a lot of stuff on Tumblr, like how they also retweet a lot of stuff over on Twitter. I just hope the creators don’t re-blog any inappropriate language that people post on Tumblr, as they did on Twitter.

Big Hero 6: Baymax Follower Ad

The creators have this ad you can watch on any Main Streets. To get the Baymax Follower (from the movie Big Hero 6, Which was released into theaters toady!) you have to watch the video and boom you get the cool follower below!

baymax

LOL! Is it just me or the Baymax Follower kinda looks like the Michelin Man or the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man xD

Interview with Poptropica comic writer Paul Gilligan

Remember the recent post where Slippery Raptor showed Poptropica’s Comic Artist: Kory Merritt being interviewed by L’Idea Magazine? Well, the magazine did another interview with another Poptropica employee! This one was with Paul Gilligan; Poptropica’s Comic Writer. Although he didn’t give away any important details like Kory did, he said some pretty interesting stuff in a tidbit of the interview below!

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: In June of this year you debuted with another comic strip, Poptropica. Could you tell us how it came about and what is the storyline?
PAUL GILLIGAN: Poptropica is a popular website where players can create avatars and travel through a plethora of interesting islands.  The website’s creator, Jeff Kinney (of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” fame) wanted a comic strip to go with it, and so he hired me to do the writing.  There were pre-existing templates for the two main characters of Oliver and Jorge.  I fleshed them out and gave them the motivation that they’re searching for a way out of Poptropica by traveling from island to island, kinda like that show “Quantum Leap”, like each time they hop to the next island it will be the one that leads them home.

A Poptropica strip

L’IDEA MAGAZINE: In Poptropica you share the credits with Kory Merritt. How do you operate in the creation of the strip with him?
PAUL GILLIGAN: I do the writing, accompanied by thumbnails if necessary, and Kory pencils out the strips and runs them by me.  I bring up any alterations that might be necessary for clarity, etc, and then he inks and colors the work.  It’s been a fairly seamless collaboration thus far; Kory’s a great artist and super easy to work with.

Wow! I never thought from jumping island-to-island as a Quantum Leap! Anyway, that’s it for this long post! Have a great day!

Meanwhile, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid ad for book 9, The Long Haul, is still around. For more details on the pig-pushing game and the prizes it gives out, check out Slippery Raptor’s post about it here.

Finally, the Creators have mentioned that R.A. Montgomery, who authored the Choose Your Own Adventure book series which included a book that inspired Nabooti Island (The Lost Jewels of Nabooti), has passed away at the age of 78. RIP, Raymond Almiran Montgomery!

That’s all for now – and this post’s bad pun is: pop over later, Poptropicans.

Hey Poptropicans! There are a couple of new ads on Main Streets: one for boys, and one for girls. To get to either ad, just click on its respective banner in the home page carousel when you first log in, or the button on the ad card you may automatically receive upon logging in.

For the girls-only Monster High: Freaky Fusion ad, all you need to do is click on the billboard to receive two prizes: the monstrously fashionable Bonita Femur costume, and a printable Wish List.

(Thanks to Magic Fire of The Poptropica Package for the pics & insight. By the way, if you’re brought to an ad-less Main Street – like I was – try visiting a SUI. If you still can’t see it, it may be because you don’t meet whatever mysterious criteria have been set for the target audience, be it age, gender, or location.)

For the boys-only Hot Wheels: Street Hawk ad, just watch the video for your prize: a Hot Wheels: Street Hawk Remote Control! Press spacebar and the car will turn into a plane that will fly around your screen and exit upwards. Your character will be left in awe, saying, “Wow, it went 200 feet!”

(Thanks to Slippery Raptor the pics & insight! He recently joined the PHB team, but you can also check out his Poptropica blog here.)

Also, the Creators recently recognized a few more Land creations that have impressed them, which you can view on the official blog or below (click for full size):

Creepy Singer made a spectacular brick abode. Golden Leaf gave us this floating domicile. Prickly Monster made, well, a prickly monster! Quick Tomato is the lord of this manor.

The good news is, everyone (not just members, as is currently the case) will get to play a bigger, better version of Land in early 2015! :D

Anyway, that’s all for this post – be sure to catch up with everything else in the posts below! This post’s bad Pop-pun is: stay popping, not flopping.

Hey Poptropicans! There’s a lot of ads going on in Poptropica right now, but before we get to that, the Creators have tweeted yet another PopStorm doodle – #8, featuring happy eyes!

popstorm happy eyesMaybe the ad updates I’m about to get into below will bring about some of those excited facial expressions above. Hopefully. (Thanks to Scary Plug for the pics & insight into these ads – check out her blog at Poptropica With Scary Plug! )

On Main Street of most islands, such as Reality TV, you can click on the Galactic Hot Dogs prize stand to get your free Mega Dog Costume with a handheld Jupiter Jolt Sauce tube that shoots a jet of ketchup when spacebar is pressed. (By the way, Galactic Hot Dogs Island is coming soon!)

ghd1 ghd2 megadog

Next up is an ad game for Goldfish Fun, where you will be given a flashlight to navigate the dark scenery in search of 3 items: the dog food bowl (beside the sleeping dog in the kennel), the dog bone (hidden in a tree), and the dog collar (above the fence).

Be sure to click the top-left corner where the battery icon is to recharge your flashlight every so often, or you’ll have to start over. Once you’ve found the 3 items, you’ll get a Beach Ball Costume.

(By the way, to see the animation process of the dog, check out this PHB post from October!)

For the other prize, you’ll need to spot the red reptile – he’s pretty easy to find. Click on him, and you’ll receive the Monster Follower! (Bonus: To keep the flashlight, follow the steps in this video!)

There are still a couple more ads in the game – upon logging in, you may automatically receive two Night at the Museum 3 cards, each with buttons to external games: ‘Pompeii Escape’ and ‘Knight Flight’. There is also a Captain Toad video ad, but you won’t get a prize for watching the clip – however, you can Costumize the costume of the guy standing beside the ad. And, if you go to the ad space between places, you can grab a printable Holiday Wish List for books by Carl Hiaasen.

Anyway, that’s all for now – to wrap up this post, I’ll leave you with this meme tweeted by Poptropica:

Hey Poptropicans! Remember the Goldfish Fun ad game mentioned last week? Well, it’s still around, but with new prizes – thanks to Scary Plug (again!) for the pics and insight into this ad.

This time, you’ll have to find 3 new items: the pool noodle (above the fence), beach ball (among the tomato plants), and duck swim ring (on the far right) – to get the new Spooky Shrub Costume! Be sure to recharge your flashlight (click the battery icon) every so often.

The second prize is the Goldfish Fun Flashlight, which flashes the ad logo when you press spacebar. You can get by clicking on the three-eyed grinning monster. This flashlight is different from the one you hold in the mini-game, so if you want to keep that, check out this video.

In other news, Poptropica just recently tweeted PopStorm #9, featuring a chorus of singing snowmen! How festive. :D Ding dong, ding dong, that is their song…

Hey Poptropicans! There’s a new ad on Main Street for Night at the Museum 3: Secret of the Tomb, in theaters Dec 19 – just watch the video trailer to get your own Caveman Follower!

caveman follower ad

(It’s supposed to be on Night Watch Island, which would be clever considering the name of the film, except that for some players like me, ads never seem to appear on older/classic islands, although they can be found on SUIs like Shrink Ray!) You can also Costumize the nearby Sir Lancelot.

Meanwhile on social media, Poptropica has revealed a logo and name for what appears to be the second coming of the Land feature: Poptropica Realms. This might even involve the “create your own worlds (planets)” sneak peek unveiled earlier! Hmmm, indeed.

pop realms

They’ve also posted PopStorm #10, titled “anticipation”, and featuring… a birthday boy, chasing after – a burger on wings…? Just what exactly becomes of these PopStorms? Interesting, though.

The Creators also posted another YouTube video, this one showing off the latest Galactic Hot Dogs prize pack (more details here) as well as the GHD ad game on the Poptropica app (more details here) –

Hey Poptropicans! The Goldfish Fun ad has been reincarnated a third time – this time, finding three garden-themed items will get you a three-eyed Monster Costume! 1) The seeds are near the tomato garden, 2) the soil is by the tree, and 3) the shovel is at the tree branch near the fence.

Also, click on the monster by the fence near the Monster Mayhem sign to receive the Monster Follower. (Thanks to Slippery Raptor for the pics & insight!)

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Poptropica tweeted this picture of of an escape balloon. Whether this has to do with Balloon Boy remains to be seen, but they did respond to one concerned Poptropican regarding Balloon Boy that they’re “just not sure at this point”.

escape balloon

Another possibility is that this could be for the upcoming island based on the Poptropica comics – they did also recently post this experimental snapshot of Jorge (in his pink underwear) on Mythology Island:

jorge on myth island

Also, Ep. 1 of Arabian Nights (How Bazaar) is now free to download on Android devices. If you need a walkthrough, check out the PHB’s Arabian Nights Island Guide!

By the way, the Creators’ Blog recently updated their favicon (website icon) with the Poptropica blimp, the icon of the Poptropica app – about time they changed from the default Blogger icon. :P

blimp

Interestingly, especially with the episodic islands, Poptropica has recently been doing away with the iconic yellow blimp – they’ve even confirmed that it won’t appear on GHD Island, which is coming at the end of January. Check out our Galactic Hot Dogs Island page for more info on the upcoming adventure!

Lastly, just a reminder that the PHB’s having a Christmas party this Saturday (Dec 20th), and we’d love to have you join – it’ll be fun! See the invitation post for more details. Stay popping, Poptropicans.

Realms announcement, GHD interactive ad, & more

Hey guys, BT here –

Yeah, I know. I haven’t posted since November. Yell at me all you want.

Anyway, remember how the official Poptropica Twitter page teased us with something called Poptropica Realms? Well, the kindly Creators over on the official blog, fresh from their winter hiatus, have just officially announced this updated version of Land – starting with a video trailer:

Although not revealing much new, the trailer looks like it would hype willing players (even non-members!) to take the challenge to see what they can do.

Also, there is an official tour page for Realms, which hasn’t changed much from the Lands page besides the new title and video. This is intriguing – and although it’ll be open to everyone, members do get bonus benefits according to the official description:

Everyone can create and explore Poptropica Realms, but only Poptropica Members can unlock its true power! With Membership, create even more new Realms, and share your creations with the Poptropica Creators. You’ll also get exclusive props and decorations to make your Realms truly unique.

We know we’ll get to create new worlds and planets to share with people, but I wonder what other new things Realms will give to the table that Lands didn’t already…

The Creators have released yet another Galactic Hot Dogs sponsored quest video on their official YouTube account, this one for a new ad that’s on Main Streets.

Thanks to Slippery Raptor for the pics & insight into the ad –

The exterior of the advertisement shows the Neon Wiener with a smoking large hole behind it. When you enter, a short clip will play, showing the Neon Wiener blasting off into space.

Inside, you can talk to Humphree on your right and F.R.E.D on your left. Moving along, there are a couple of dummies (Cosmoe and Humphree for boys; Princess Dagger and Evil Queen Dagger for girls) you can Costumize from. To your right, Princess Dagger and Cosmoe are guarding the Mega Dog. By clicking on the door to the right, you’ll shoot lasers with two Jacks, Cosmoe, and Princess Dagger.

1 5 3

Isn’t GHD Island supposed to come out some time this month? Hmm…

In other news, the first Arabian Nights episode, How Bazaar (“and robbed from afar!” Okay, I need to stop lyrical connections…) is now available for FREE on iOS devices!

(For Android users, “How Bazaar” has already been released.)

One more thing before I go – according to Poptropica’s tweet, this is “Early concept pencil art. For something. Something February-ish.”

Could it be the cover for the Poptropica comic graphic novel? Is that guy in the blimp… cutting the rope from the protagonists? Uh-oh…

On that note, BT out!

Ads: Odd Squad & BoxTrolls, plus new pop quizzes

Hey guys! PHB commenter Cuddly Knuckle recently gave us a heads up on two new ads on Poptropica, which can be found on Main Streets such as those on Spy Island and Early Poptropica.

Let’s look at the Odd Squad ad first. All you have to do is watch a quick video to earn your prize! Boys get the Agent Otto costume and girls get the Agent Olive costume.

The other ad is for the BoxTrolls, and again, all you have to do is watch a quick video! Afterwards, you will get the BoxTrolls Transformer. When you click “transform”, all the Poptropicans near you will become BoxTrolls!

ad 2

Also, remember those new pop quizzes that HP mentioned? Well, they’re finally popping up! This one here asks if you would ever join the circus, and the other one shown in HP’s sneak peek asks if you like poetry. For a list of all the pop quizzes available, check out the PHB’s Pop Quizzes page!

Strange Things: Magic, missing Daily Pops, & Realms to all!

Hey guys! A lot of strange things have been going on in Poptropica lately.

First of all, there is a new ad popping up called Strange Magic! The ad can be found on islands such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Main Street or in between places. All you have to do to earn your prize is watch its movie trailer. Girls get Fairy Wings and boys get a Staff and Imp costume.

If space bar is pressed while wearing the wings or staff, a short scene will play out where an imp will appear on screen and your Poptropican will fly.

strange magic

Speaking of “strange”, if you’ve checked out the Daily Pops recently, you may have noticed that sneak peeks haven’t been posted on their usual schedule. In fact, there haven’t been any new sneak peeks at all this week, and a couple of days in the past couple of weeks have been skipped as well.

There have only been 9 sneak peeks in January when there should’ve been 17 at this point (one for every weekday). Here they are below:

Head Games: What's in the box? Iconic: More quizzes are about to pop. Platform Neutral: Lots of interesting things go on in the shadows. Banner Day: Let your freak flag fly. Waxing: And working on some night moves. Depressed: It's another one of those hot button issues. Way Back Week: Binary Bard's dreams come to life on Super Villain Island. Way Back Week: The robot revolution begins on Game Show Island. Goats Beware: One more throwback. We're back for real tomorrow.

The most recent image was Head Games: What’s in the box? and was uploaded on January 16. It seems to be for Galactic Hot Dogs Island, but that’s not the point. :P

Even though the Daily Pop schedule has been sporadic this month, the PHB has all of the images that have been uploaded ready for you to view on our Daily Pop Sneak Peek Archive. ;)

Lastly, as you may have seen in the updates to HP’s Poptropica Realms postPoptropica Realms is now open to all! Check out the PHB’s Realms guide for an in-depth look.

Lots of stuff has been added to HP’s Realms post below, including some strange hats relating to biomes that can be found in Realms, its theme music, and a video tour from HP himself. :)

Hey Poptropicans! If you head on over to Main Streets right now, there’s a new ad for the new Dreamworks movie Penguins of Madagascar (I found it on Mythology Island). Click on it to receive the Penguin Power! (thanks to ~Anime_Cookie~ for the ad alert!)

Pressing the space bar will make your character equip a handheld bag of Cheezy Dibbles (delicious) and a big penguin will pop up on the screen for a moment. You’ll retain the snack bag after the effect.

Next in news, here’s a recap of the Daily Pops for this week, as well as some from the upcoming week that have already been uploaded to Poptropica’s servers. Most seem to be for Episode 3 of Arabian Nights, and the “Dig Deep” one with the miners might be for the hinted-at underground cave island.

On the Level: Let's table the discussion for now. Sweet Dreams: Somebody still needs to make the bed. Royals: We are the sultans of swing. Looking Glass: Seven years' bad luck if you break it. Design Concept: We sense a theme emerging. Dig Deep: But don't get tunnel vision. Arch Enemy: It harbors dark secrets.

For more sneak peeks, check out the PHB’s Daily Pop Sneak Peek Archive! :D

Also, for you Twitterers out there, it looks like Poptropica’s account is starting to hit its following limit – so they’ve started unfollowing some accounts (don’t worry, it’s nothing personal!). They suggest following them back to ensure you’re not one of the accounts they stop following.

And feel free to also follow the PHB on Twitter for the latest Pop-happenings! :D

Finally, hope you’re having a lovely weekend! Just recently, the PHB celebrated Valentine’s Day with a pink-ified site layout, which you can see below if you missed it. Plus, PHB author Brave Tomato drew some fanart for one of Poptropica’s best love stories: Fiona and Valiant of Ghost Story Island!

Don’t forget to be awesome, and stay popping, Poptropicans.

Graphic novel island, MotM p. 10-13, & TinkerBell NeverBeast ad

What’s popping, Poptropicans? This week’s Daily Pops seem to be strongly hinting at an island (or ad, or adventure of some sort) based on the Poptropica graphic novel (Mystery of the Map) – the origin story we’ve been looking forward to. Check them out:

Basket Case: What a deflating voyage. Collapse: Jared Diamond might have something to say about this. Downfall: Don't go chasing these things.

There’s the crashed hot air balloon, along with other natural scenes that seem to fit in with what we’ve seen so far. Perhaps the three-deckered cave is a multiplayer common room?

Plus, the Vikings and dodo bird sneak peek from last week most likely fits in with this “island” as well: in the most recent Mystery of the Map (MotM) page, the bird makes its first appearance.

Below are the most recent MotM pages (click to enlarge images). To keep up with each day’s new page, bookmark the Poptropica graphic novel site area! We’ll be posting them on the PHB every so often, but not necessarily daily, so check the official site to stay the most up-to-date. ;)

Lastly, there’s an ad (girls only!) for Disney’s TinkerBell and the Legend of the NeverBeast (I found it on Poptropolis Games). Inside, you can collect a free NeverBeast Follower, feed the NeverBeast by clicking the catapult, customize from the dummies (although other than fairy wings, their costumes don’t seem to be loading), read a synopsis, watch a trailer, and meet other players (it’s a common room).

Have fun, and stay popping, Poptropicans. :D

Two new ads have been popping up around Poptropica lately, one for boys and one for girls. Thanks to Prickly Monster for the tip!

ad

Let’s start with the ad for the boys. This advertisement is for Lego Mixels, and all you have to do is click on the ad to receive a handheld Lego item: a Flamzer Scuttle, which scuttles across the screen when you press space bar.

Next up is the ad for girls. This one is for the upcoming movie, Cinderella. Again, all you have to do is watch a short video and you will earn a Cinderella costume: an Enchanted Royal Gown!

(P)interesting ads: Home ‘Oh’ follower & more

Hey Poptropicans! On Main Streets of SUIs like Time Tangled, you can find an ad for the upcoming Dreamworks movie Home. Watching the trailer awards you a follower of the alien character “Oh” from the film (who has the voice of Sheldon Cooper!). (thanks for the tip, Cuddly Knuckle)

home ad

Over on the Poptropica mobile app, there’s also an ad for Night at the Museum 3: Secret of the Tomb! In the mini-game, all you have to do is keep running right and jumping over museum artifacts to avoid the suddenly-alive triceratops skeleton. Once you’ve carried the tablet to safety, you’ll be awarded a Dexter Rider and costume (Cleopatra for girls, Sir Lancelot for boys).

That’s not the only app update – Survival Ep. 5 (“Escape!”) is now free on iOS! That means that they’ve now gotten rid of all in-app purchases, and every downloadable island is now free.

By the way, thanks to the Poptropica Creators’ official Pinterest for the Night at the Museum pics above! We’ve mentioned this social media venture before, but since then, Master Mime (Jon Pitcher) has really taken off with the whole Pinterest movement, from pinning St. Patrick’s Day signs in the Poptropica font to linking to the PHB’s Comics page (where you can read Mystery of the Map in its entirety!).

So spread the word: follow Poptropica on Pinterest! :D

Plus, check out this behind-the-scenes early art for Arabian Nights, Episode 3 – another shot of the “unimpressed teenage daughter” princess with her “clueless dad” the sultan. If you haven’t already, you’ll want to read BT’s theory, because word is that even the illustrator of this piece confirms it’s “dead on” with the island’s story!

Stay tuned to the PHB for what’s popping in Poptropica! :)

Hi Gs,

Quick post to tell you that there is an ad campaign for Poptropica happening on FunBrain.com, and some of the most prominent figures in the community are featured – including widdle old me!

IMONPOPTROPICA1 IMONPOPTROPICA2 IMONPOPTROPICXA

These ads can be found here, and feature people like Slanted Fish, Shaggy Tornado, and Spotted Dragon. I’m so honered to be a part of the campaign! (The ads alternate, you’ll have to refresh the page a couple times to see them all on the site.)

So here’s a challenge for you – Identify who all the people in the ads are! Leave your guesses in the comments, and I’ll follow up the winners in the next post I make! (shh totally not making you find them so that I don’t have to :P )

Mega-After-Map Costumes!

Hi Gs,

Lots of stuff to go over, let’s get right to it;

First of all, to celebrate the newly released Galactic Hot Dogs book, the Creators put in a new promo code for a crazy looking Mega Dog Costume, along with a Jupiter Jolt sauce gun! The code is GHDBOOK, so run fast liek sanic over to the store to redeem the card.

megaDog2 copy

Next, there are a handful of new cards that you can obtain by logging in for the Whatever After book series. While I shudder at the thought of the books, I must admit that the cards are pretty cool – one is a Prince (boys) or Beauty (girls) to Beast costume, and the other is a Magic Mirror.

The prince/beast (or beauty/beast) costume is pretty simple – when you put it on, you turn into a prince (or princess) – but when you press space bar, you turn into a beast! Cool costumes, me like. :)

whatever

The magic mirror is a bit simpler – equip it and press spacebar to say some quotes from… somewhere. Honestly, this item is pretty peculiar.

Next, the first installment of the Mystery of the Map graphic novel is going to be over tomorrow, and I have a feeling that’s when they’re going to be announcing the upcoming island. If you didn’t know already, you can go ahead and read tomorrow’s page today with our Comics archive. :D

motmCard1 motmcard2 motmCard3

Lastly, there are a few new items in the store, pertaining to Mystery of the Map. They’re technically not able to be bought yet, as they won’t appear in your inventory, but they’re still pretty cool. (Psst! There’s a glitch going on right now where nonmembers can buy a ton of Member’s Only cards! Run fast liek sanic!!)

So, are you going to be reading the new GHD book? And are you excited for MotM Island? Tell me in the comments.

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here! Lots of news is out and I am here to give it to you.

Mystery of the Map Island official announcement and tour page

MysteryOfTheMap02

First of all, the highlight of the post (unless you’re into Butt Kites): Mystery of the Map Island has been officially announced on the Creators’ Blog! It is to be released for members on Thursday, May 21.

There’s also a non-members clothing item released for the island, so head down to the Poptropica Store and get yourself a Viking Shield. Also, if you’re a member, you can pick up the “Island Wildlife – Pig” and “Island Wildlife – Dodo” costumes. (Note: There’s currently a glitch that prevents them from showing in the inventory!) (Update: They should be accessible now!)

motmCard1 motmCard3 motmcard2

Along with the Creators’ post, the Mystery of the Map Island tour page is up as well! There’s a new trailer for the island:

The official Tour page offers the following synopsis:

A lost Viking settlement… an island unstuck in time… a magical map with power beyond understanding… and a devious plot that could unravel the very fabric of Poptropica! Join Mya, Oliver, and Jorge for a thrilling new adventure that lifts the veil from the greatest secret of all: the origin of Poptropica!

Along with that, there are plenty of scenery sneak peeks, as well as the wallpaper:

MOTMScenery1 MOTMScenery2 MOTMScenery3 MOTMScenery4 MOTMScenery5 MOTMScenery6 MOTMScenery7 MOTMWallpaper

A whole lot of new MOTM Island stuff! I’m quite interested to hear how the island will be and how it will differentiate from the comics. Hopefully it’ll be a great island and I’m looking forward to how it goes! Check out the PHB’s Mystery of the Map Island page for trivia and discussion. :)

Poptropica is no longer owned by Pearson

Next in today’s news comes from the Poptropica official Twitter, on which it was revealed that Poptropica isn’t owned by Pearson Education anymore.

Under further questioning from our very own HPuterpop, the following was said:

Slippery Raptor also asked concerning the reasoning behind said action:

It’s somewhat said to see Pearson is no longer involved considering they were likely Poptropica’s main funding. But, I’m glad that Poptropica now has the freedom to take liberties for whatever they’d like. Hopefully, this change will be for the good, bringing forth many new islands! :D

Popstorm #26

There’s a new Popstorm released as well!

PopStorm26

Remarkable Realms: Cool Boa’s panic room

This new Remarkable Realms was released on the Creators’ Blog recently! This one is a cabin-like house with a secret panic room.

New Poptropica Realms button in the SUI menu

Just wanted to throw in this post that there is a new button in the SUI menu.

RealmsSUIButton

As you can see the left button is one for Poptropica Realms. Like the Blimp button, which brings you to the map, the new Realms button, brings you to Poptropica Realms.

RealmsSUIButton2

It simply takes this prompt and brings you directly to Realms. A fairly helpful tool for us to use!

Butt Kites and Alligators

Now to finish this post off on an extremely weird note (or a high note, if you’re into this kind of thing). New ad items have shown up on Poptropican for a book called The Worst Class Trip Ever by Dave Barry. Items include the Butt Kite and Alligator Tag-Along. You can see them below:

ButtKiteAlligator ButtKite AlligatorTagAlong

Really kind of strange to me that these are on Poptropica, but I digress.

What do you think of all of this? Feel free to comment your thoughts below!
